An Elixir Health appointment takes about twenty minutes: a finger-prick or venous sample, run on the analyser in the room, and a printed result explained before you leave. Samples are never sent to a laboratory, which is why the result is minutes rather than days.

Step by step

  1. Book. At an Elixir Day, a clinic, or a private visit. Morning slots for any panel with testosterone or cortisol in it; cycle-timed slots for the women's hormone panels.
  2. Arrive. Bring nothing. Water is fine. If your panel is finger-prick only, it is a chair and about ten minutes. If it includes a venous marker, it is a couch, a qualified phlebotomist and a five-minute spin in the centrifuge.
  3. The run. The Getein 1160 runs four test cards at once, in three to fifteen minutes. A four-marker panel is one run.
  4. The result, on paper. Each marker, its reference range, and where yours sits. Explained by a person in the room.
  5. The review. Every panel is reviewed by our clinician. Anything outside the expected range is referred — you will hear within one working day.
  6. Your record. The result goes into an account you own, encrypted, under the clinician's responsibility — and never into our marketing system. How that works.
  7. Retest at twelve weeks. Booked before you leave, if you want it.

What "point of care" means, and why it matters

A laboratory runs dozens of assays off one tube and posts you a PDF in one to seven days. A point-of-care analyser runs a small number of assays in the room. It cannot do breadth. It can do the thing a lab never will: give you the number, with a person, before you leave.

Elixir Health is a point-of-care measurement service. Samples are analysed at the venue and never sent to a laboratory. A single measurement on a single day is not a diagnosis. Elixir is not a clinic or a pharmacy. 18+.
