Where does the sample go?

At an Elixir Health appointment the sample never leaves the room. It is taken, run on the analyser on the table, and disposed of as clinical waste at the venue under the Sharps Regulations. Nothing is posted, couriered or stored. That is what "point of care" means, and it is also why the service sits outside the regulations that apply to laboratory testing.

Step by step

1. Finger prick or venous draw, by a trained member of our team.
2. Into the buffer, onto the test card, into the analyser — three to fifteen minutes.
3. The result is printed and explained.
4. The card and the consumables go into the sharps and clinical-waste containers we bring. Waste is collected under our own contract, never left with the venue.

What we keep

The result — the numbers, the ranges, who reviewed them — in your own encrypted record. Not the sample. There is nothing to keep.

What we never do

Send a sample to a laboratory. Retain a sample. Give a sample, or a result, to a venue, an employer or anyone else. Employer-paid testing produces aggregate figures only, with a suppression floor, and the employer never sees an individual result.
